For many people, money is mundane and they can afford the top-of-the-line equipment they want. Others need to be more cost-conscious and look for bargains.

There are as many late-model bicycles standing on a shore as there are in bicycle shops.

Well, that's perhaps an exaggeration, but it's true that many people who start out in the cycling hobby tend to lose interest after a week or a month. Either they find they don't have time for it or they just don't enjoy it. But, when they started, they were full of enthusiasm, so they bought the best bike and the latest cycling accessories that they no longer use.

Then they sell it, in second-hand sales, on Ebay, wallapop, thousand ads, or in groups and forums of bicycle enthusiasts.

How else can you save money while preparing your own cycling equipment?

Well, as much as I hate to say it, the best thing to do is buy online. Online shops carry more inventory than most traditional specialty shops.and they can sell the equipment at such a discount that, even after paying for shipping, you will still save money.

The downside here is that you need to make sure you are buying from a reputable shop: if you send money to a scammer, it may take time to forget about it.

Make comparisons when shopping, both online and in specialised shops. local stores, as well as in large sporting goods stores.

If possible, of course, you should support your local bike shop, simply because you will have a very knowledgeable person behind you who will be there when you need them. But if you find an item online at a good price, you would be foolish not to take advantage of it.
