Adlerweg: The "Eagle's Way" through the Austrian Tyrol

The Adlerweg (or Eagle's Way) is a well-maintained and signposted 300 km trail that runs through the Austrian Tyrol from St Johann in the east to St Anton in the west. It follows established mountain and valley paths to traverse the length of the Austrian state of Tyrol from east to west.

It crosses the Austrian Tyrol from east to west through a series of mountain ranges, Wilder Kaiser, Rofan and Karwendel, passing under the Zugspitze and through the Lechtaler Alpen; it also descends into the Inn Valley, Leutasch and Lechtal.

When to go?

From late June to mid-September; the best time is August, but the most popular lodges can be very crowded.

From St Johann in the Tyrol near Kitzbuhel to St Johann am Arlberg, via Kufstein, Pertisau/Maurach on Achensee, Innsbruck and Ehrwald

The route is also well served by good quality and well-located mountain accommodation and refreshment opportunities.
