Summer stage
-by Pablo Liras Laita-
It was horrible. Terrifying. Terrifying.
It still makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end when you remember the moment when the group made the wise decision to turn back. What was initially a short summer stage, crossing a pass close to 3,000m with a bit of fog, quickly turned into a white hell. Freezing wind, hail, lightning, thunder, very slippery terrain and precipice. Completely stunned and disoriented, you remembered the best advice that can be given in such a situation: poles to the ground and don't run. You quickly lost the feeling in your hands, and soon after that it was your feet. With the sensation of walking on stumps, you made it back to the shelter. You remember perfectly how, in silence, you changed your clothes at the very entrance. It took you all afternoon to warm up.
And now, months later, in the warmth of your home, you almost miss it.
