The ever vigilant Cuca de Bellosta will escort us to the abandoned village of Otin. If we choose to descend a ravine whose significance is "place inhabited by spirits". We will immediately get an idea of what we will encounter along the way.

The Mascún is quite rightly the most outstanding ravine in the Parque de la Sierra de Guara and its symbol.

How to get there

From Huesca take the road towards Lleida. After about 30 km and shortly after passing the village of Angues, we will find the turn-off to the Sierra de Guara (pay attention to the crossroads). A few kilometres further on and after passing the village of Abiego, take the turn-off towards Rodellar (30min).

Approach

Access will be from Rodellar down a winding road to the ravine of the Mascún River and continue north until you reach the Mascun FountainWe continue along the wide and often dry riverbed (the only source of water up to Otin) where we will see the river rise again. We continue along the wide and frequently dry riverbed (the Real de Mascún) to the sight of the Cuca BellostasThe funny monolith that will escort us during the ascent to the Otin Coast We take an obvious path that leads off to the left and down a steep slope.

Descent

We will jump 6m to start the canyon, we will avoid numerous and varied abseils, blocks and ledges until we reach the start of the Oscuros de Otín: a fantastic and varied stretch of very deep and steep, partially semi-subterranean canyon, unequalled in the Sierra de Guara.
