The Pyrenees Mountain Film Festival goes international
THE ALTOARAGONIAN EVENT CONFIRMS THE FRENCH TOWN OF TARBES AS A NEW VENUE FOR ITS TOUR
THE 2024 EVENT WILL START IN FEBRUARY IN THE CAPITAL OF HUESCA AND WILL ONCE AGAIN HOST THE "HOYA DE HUESCA" TRAIL RACE.
The internationalisation of the Pyrenees Mountain Film Festival is already a fact, in 2024 the event will reach France thanks to the addition of the town of Tarbes as a new venue. An agreement that allows the festival to continue to expand the proposal of the Huesca event focused on mountain, adventure and nature films. "It is an important step forward, and at the same time a natural step for the festival due to its own essence and name", declares David Asensio, director of the film event. The news comes in a year marked in the calendar of Huesca and Tarbes itself, as they celebrate the 60th anniversary of their twinning, "we connect through cinema both sides of the Pyrenees and serve as a bridge for two societies that are celebrating more than half a century of union" concludes Asensio.
The PMFF Tour will arrive in April at the Théâtre des Nouveautés in the French city, when the public will be able to see a selection of the 21 short films competing between 19 and 24 February for a prize of 6,000 euros. These productions come from three continents and feature mountain, climbing, base jumping, freediving, mountain biking, skiing and kayaking; even the Pyrenees itself is represented in several productions.
The Pyrenees Mountain Film Festival continues to show its potential and strength in just three years. An initiative that was born on the basis of a solid provincial cooperation, to later take the national step and now finally to meet the international challenge. Currently, as well as touring the whole of Upper Aragon, it also reaches other Aragonese territories, Andalusia, the Basque Country, the Valencian Community and now France.
REGISTRATION OPEN FOR THE IV TRAIL "HOYA DE HUESCA".
The Pyrenees Mountain Film Festival also has an important sports area, for which this year it is once again adding the IV "Hoya de Guara" Trail. A competitive race organised by Peña Guara that returns to the calendar after a lethargy caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Four years later, on Sunday 18 February, runners will once again take part in this sporting event on one of its two routes: 26K and 16K.
The routes will start from the Palacio de Congresos in Huesca and will pass through some of the region's most important natural and heritage sites, such as the Montearagón Castle or the Saso de Tierz Trenches. The winners will win lots of gastronomic products and bottles of homemade vermouth in a trophy ceremony that will put the finishing touch before the competition screenings that will start on Monday 19th in the Olimpia Theatre, "it is the perfect preamble for a whole week where the mountain, sport and adventure will be the protagonists" explains David Asensio.
The registrations are open until 13 February (although runners will be accepted until the day of the race for a surcharge of €5) and the fee entitles you to a runner's bag, toilets and showers, medical assistance and cloakroom. Prices vary depending on the distance selected:
