Although with some delay, the heaviest snowfalls of the winter are already here. The ski resorts of the Pyrenees, Sierra Nevada and the Alps are already looking their best to enjoy the snow to the full.

In the last few days we have been able to see thicknesses of between 35 and 100 cm and a large part of the skiable areas have been opened. Would you like to know the snow forecasts, thicknesses and open slopes in each resort? We'll tell you about it!

Snowfall forecasts in the Pyrenees, Alps and Sierra Nevada resorts

Expectations started off very well this season, but the fact is that the best time to ski is now after the snowstorm that has affected practically all the main ski resorts.

Snow thickness and skiable kilometres

Many resorts are starting to open more pistes, given the latest snowfall, but we still have to wait for the weather forecasts, which are clearly favourable for next week, to improve.

  • Grandvalira. The snow forecast for the Grandvalira resort shows a minimum snow thickness of 30 cm and a maximum of 135 cm. It is also expected to open 145 km of its 210 km of skiable slopes and a total of 86 of the 127 slopes.
  • Formigal. Here we are informed of a thickness of between 30 and 85 cm, and 37 skiable kilometres of its 141 km.
  • Aramon Cerler. At the station of the Aragonese Pyrenees 33 of 68 pistes are open, with a thickness of 50-100 cm and a significant risk of precipitation, with 37 km skiable.
  • La Molina. At the moment, there are about 40 open slopes out of 66 and a total of 38 km of skiable slopes. The snow thickness is between 30 and 60 cm, with a very low avalanche risk and good weather for this week, no precipitation, but very cold.
  • Baqueira-Beret. The weather conditions are adverse, so the opening is only partial. However, in the next few days, when the weather changes, the conditions will be magnificent. The minimum snow thickness is 125 cm and the maximum is 155 cm.
  • Candanchú. The snow report today is for a minimum thickness of 40 cm and a maximum of 80 cm. 23 pistes out of 51 have been opened and there are approximately 19 skiable slopes.
  • Sierra Nevada. Undoubtedly one of the best conditions, with a minimum thickness of 20 cm and a maximum of 200 cm. There are 118 slopes open out of 131 and 21 lifts open, with a total of 98.2 km skiable. Visibility is good and there will be hardly any precipitation over the next few days.

In the Alpine resorts we find a snow thickness of 89-100 cm at Alpe D'Huez, although there is a risk of snowfall from next week onwards. Snow conditions are also excellent in Val Thorens, with a thickness of 131-165 cm and up to 79 slopes open. Or also in Avoriaz, with a thickness of 106-185 cm and up to 47 open slopes out of 51.

The truth is that although the snowfalls will continue, the good weather will arrive soon and the forecasts show an increase in the thickness of the snow in the resorts, especially in the Pyrenees.

Get ready to enjoy the snow this time!
