In the north of the Sobrarbe are the Larri waterfalls. Beautiful views, covered with snow in winter or green meadows in summer, is what travellers will find when visiting the plains and the Larri waterfall, in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Each season has its own charm for this visit, and it is up to the traveller to choose the season that best suits their tastes and needs. Some recommend that the best times to visit are spring and autumn. From the plains of the Larri you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Pineta CirqueThe site of the source of the river Cinca, the glacier of Monte Perdido and the Cilindro de Marboré.

The route

The Larri waterfalls are very close to the village of Bielsa. From this village, take the road that leads to the Pineta Parador. Before reaching the Parador, take the Cinca river crossing. A little further on you will find a car park where you can leave your car. After this point, follow the asphalted road on the way to the Parador. When you reach the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Pineta, look for the GR-11 path. This path, also known as the Trans-Pyrenean path, is just behind the hermitage and near a fountain, and leads to the Larri plains.

The first part of the path is covered with a large amount of vegetation made up of trees and bushes with thick foliage. The path goes uphill for about 40 minutes until it reaches the Larri slopes. After this point, the ascent becomes a little gentler and the vegetation changes to more scattered pine trees. A refuge on the right hand side marks the arrival on the plains. Here walkers can appreciate the beautiful views that the area has to offer. From the Barranco de la Larri ravine you can see the waters of a waterfall. From this point you can also see the Pineta Cirque. To reach the Larri waterfall there is still a twenty minute walk. It runs through the meadows. For the return you can take the same path or take the side of the ravine. The latter will allow you to appreciate the many waterfalls. Both paths end at the initial car park.
