The benasqués is a language specific to this region and, although you might think otherwise, it is still widely used both in spoken and written form. It may vary slightly depending on where you are in the valley, forming small, inheritable domestic units called "llugars".

The Park was founded after the approval of law 3/1994 of 23 July 1994, and includes many parts of Benasque, Sahún, San Juan de Plan and GistaínThe total land area is almost 33,300 hectares.

The main reason for the existence of Posets Maladeta is to make this area a region of great renown, as well as to provide it with protection.

The particular beauty of this Park lies in large part in the heightWe are in one of the natural parks with the highest altitude terrain in Spain and Europe. Specifically, this park is the highest in the Pyrenees itself, containing numerous glaciers that have already been recognised as Natural Monuments.

Another great attraction of this park, apart from the aforementioned glaciers themselves, are the beautiful karst phenomena that occur in the area, such as the Forau d'AiguallutThis beautiful monument is a kind of sinkhole where the waters from different thaws converge outside the borders of our country, in the French Pyrenees. This is one of the reasons why you can find numerous thermal resorts scattered throughout this area, including the Benasque Valley.
