Profile of the GR11 stage Candanchú - Sallent de Gallego

↔️ Distance: 23.8 km
📈 Unevenness (+905),(-1135) 📉
🕒 Time: 7h05min (walking time non-stop)
⚠️ Difficulty: The route is quite obvious, but on the way up to the lakes and in the lakes you can lose the signposting when there is snow. During the thawing season it can be difficult to cross the stream in the Culivillas ravine.

📌 (0h0min; 0 kms) Candanchú (1.536m). We descend along the station road until we come to the Camino de Santiago waymarks - with which we will share the route for the next 3 kilometres - shortly before a big bend. We leave the last flat blocks behind us and come out onto a small road that crosses the Aragón River and takes us out onto the national road. Turn left, cross the road and continue along a wide path that leads to a small pass, leaving a telecommunications antenna on the right. We now descend along the path to the house of Anglasé, where we join a path that leads from the road to the Canal Roya.

📌 (0h45min; 2.6 kms) Chimenea del Anglasé (1.380m). This is the remains of an old copper and iron foundry that operated in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 3 minutes we pass the crossroads where on the right the Camino de Santiago and the variant of the GR11 along the Izas channel. We continue and reach the Fuente del Cerezo (15′), then we leave the track (3′) by a path on the right and cross the river by a small footbridge to go up the valley on the left bank.

📌 (1h50min; 5.9 kms) Refuge of Lacuars or Canal Roya (1.565m), in increasingly poorer condition. We continue up the valley, passing through some areas of pine forest, although in the end the meadows take over. This is how we reach the...

📌 (3h05min; 9.4 kms) Map of La Rinconada (1.870m), an idyllic esplanade - at the bottom of a glacial cirque - at the foot of the massif of Pico de Anayet. The path meanders to the right of a waterfall in search of the best terrain for ascending to the lakes until it ends up climbing up to the high valley that opens up on the right. The path then turns to the left (SE) in search of the lakes....

📌 (4h00min; 11.5 kms) Ibones de Anayet (2.225m). Cross the grassy, waterlogged plain until you reach the other side of the lake where the Barranco de Culivillas ravine opens up. The path, well marked, descends rapidly and crosses the stream that accompanies us on several occasions (it is not necessary to cross it the first time).

📌 (5h10min; 15.1 kms) Ski resort - Zona Anayet (1.750m). Large car park up to a road that is closed to traffic outside the skiing season. Follow it until you reach the A-136 road (2 kilometres, the first 350m can be avoided by taking the ski slope on the left). Once on the A-136 - the one to the Portalet pass - continue to the right (downhill, 3 kilometres) until you reach the Formigal crossroads (roundabout). Go up towards Formigal and continue straight on at the next roundabout, leaving the village on the left.

📌 (6h20min; 20.3 kms) Formigal (1.513m). About 300 metres from the roundabout, there is a path to the right that (crossing the Formigal-Sallent de Gállego road several times), without any further complication, takes us to the...

📌 (7h05min; 23.8 kms) Sallent de Gállego (1,288m).
